Member Agreement for 2026- Voluntary CSA of Stillwater/Andover, NJ
I, Farmer James, wish to provide you with ultra-fresh, in-season produce grown at my Farm in Stillwater, Fast Lane Farm in Andover; and supplimented with certified organic produce from other farms, and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of the weekly harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship.
Section 1. Introducing Voluntary CSA
A.) Direct Farm to Consumer Relationship
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a direct relationship between the farmer & you. With an upfront commitment, members reserve a portion of the farm’s future harvest, known as a "Share", for the season(s) selected. In return, the farmer commits to growing a wide range of crops throughout the growing season, utilizing various techniques to reduce risks to help ensure a consistent harvest. Our farm share members are rewarded with Ultra-Fresh, Non-GMO, organically* grown produce throughout the harvest season. This mutually beneficial relationship provides the farmer with funds to pay for upfront costs & secures part of a living wage while members enjoy the bountiful harvests, the piece of mind & benefits of eating fresh & consciously raised produce, and the satisfaction of connecting with & supporting a local farmer who puts your health first.
B.) PRODUCE SHARE Memberships
Weekly harvests are planned to begin in Late June(exact date varies by seasonal fluctuations) and continue through early October, for a total of 16 weeks. You will be e-mailed in advance of your first pick up. Members choose to pick up from either the Stillwater or Andover locations, or, at an additional charge and the farmer's discretion, home delivery. An UpShare is approximately 50% more produce than a Share. Options are as follows:
C.) Growing Practices
Voluntary CSA produce is grown without synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified seeds, or ionizing radiation. I use only the following NOP Approved for Organic Use pesticides: 100% Neem Oil(naturally occurring from the neem tree) & Pyganic(derived from chrysanthemums.) I seek out certified organic seeds primarily, but not exclusively, as some varieties are not available as organic. This farm is not affiliated with the USDA Certified Organic Program. Practices include: cover cropping, crop rotation, fallowing, composting, drip irrigation, biodegradable mulch, reusable weed fabric, high tunnel greenhouse, frost covers, low tunnels, and flowers for pollinators. Occasionally, your share will include certified organic produce from other farms to add diversity to our offerings.
D.) The Crops Expected for 2026
Tomatoes & Cherry Tomatoes, Sweet & Hot Peppers, Asian & Regular Eggplant, Cucumbers, Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Lettuce, Asst. Salad & Braising Greens, Snap Peas, Kale, Cabbage, Green Beans, Radishes, Carrots, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Onions, Garlic, Scallions, Basil, Cilantro, Dill, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Winter Squash(Acorn, Spaghetti, Butternut, Pumpkin), & more.
The planned crops are subject to availability, with consideration of weather, pests, and other events that may affect actual production. Shares may also include additional crops not listed as experiments are ongoing to find other crops that perform well in the local conditions. If you have any suggestions for other future crops, please let farmer James know.
Occasionally your Share will include Certified Organic product grown by other farms to complement the crops I will be growing in Stillwater and Andover.
Section 2. Shared Commitments
A.) Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure
The Farm strives to provide its members with a bountiful share at each pick up. The quantity, however, may vary from week-to-week, season-to-season, due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite the best efforts of the farmer. By joining the CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure or widespread losses with the farmer and other members. By diversifying into many different crops and even different varieties within each crop, using succession plantings, adding positive human ingenuity to create more favorable growing conditions such as drip irrigation, row covers, and greenhouses, the inherent risks are minimized, and the chances of scarcity are negligible. Each year, experience gained through trial and error and continued education has further reduced risks.
B.) Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus
The possibility of surplus exists and when harvests are abundant, extra items will be packed in you share or available for selection at pick up. As in the past, there is the likelihood that you will have extras to can, jar, freeze, and dry some of the abundance for later use. Freezing pesto in ice cube trays, jarring salsa, freezing tomato sauce, cut up squash, and making pickles are such possibilities. For serious preservers, larger quantities of surplus may be available at an additional cost.
Section 3. Picking Up Produce Shares
You are responsible for picking up your share each week from the selected location and during the time and day scheduled. In rare circumstances, such as stormy weather, the farmer may be unable to offer pickup at the scheduled time. The farmer will contact you as soon as possible to notify you of a schedule change. If you cannot pick up your share, you can arrange for someone else to pick it up for you as scheduled. If you’re running late, text me at 973-919-6422 and I will leave your share outside and in a cooler if needed.

Weekly delivery charge is $160 for the 16 week season, or $80 for bi-weekly delivery. If you do not plan on being home to receive your delivery as scheduled, it is your responsibility to leave a large cooler outside your front door for any items that require refrigeration. Delivery will likely be Thursday/Friday evenings between 5 and 7 pm, but the exact day is subject to change based on participation levels in your area.
Section 5. Share Pricing & Payment
By purchasing shares in advance, the farmer is able to plan the crops accordingly. You provide the money to purchase seeds and supplies before the season starts, and the peace of mind that some living expenses are covered which allows the farmer to focus full attention on growing seedlings, preparing fields, planting, caring for and harvesting crops, and so on. Your participation is deeply appreciated, and Farmer James looks forward to returning a fair value for this financial commitment.

Section 6. Communicating with the Farm
The best way to communicate is via text message to 973-919-6422, especially urgent, last minute requests. You can also use email at [email protected] . Please understand that farmers spend most of their time in the field growing your food and not at a desk. Please contact us with any news of the following: changes to your phone number or email address, unable to make a scheduled pick up, running late, or dissatisfaction with your share.
Generally, communication to members is by email. When you sign up, you will be added to the share member e-mail list. Please read the emails! The farm depends on being able to communicate important information to you regarding pickup or other information. In-season, the emails may include information about that week's harvest, recipe ideas, or other farm related news. For urgent or last minute changes by the farmer, attempts to text or call the phone number you provided may be necessary.
